Client — a Ukrainian public figure and energy sector expert.
Matter — representation of the client in a civil dispute concerning theprotection of honour, dignity, and business reputation arising from thedissemination of statements in the media that the client considered to be falseand damaging to his professional reputation.
Role — the engagement included: analysing the disputed publications andtelevision broadcasts; distinguishing statements of fact from value judgments;developing the evidentiary basis demonstrating the falsity of the disseminatedinformation and the infliction of moral damage; identifying the appropriatedefendants among authors and media outlets; preparing the statement of claimand procedural documents; representing the client's interests in court; andcoordinating the legal and reputational strategy.

Significance of the Matter— the case combinesthe protection of personal non-property rights with issues relating to freedomof expression, public interest, and the permissible limits of criticism ofpublic figures. A particular challenge was ensuring a balance between theclient's right to the protection of honour, dignity, and reputation and theright of the media and political opponents to the free expression of views.
